Creative Portfolio

Learning Content Creator/Instructional Designer/Learning Experience Designer

I am an award-winning digital content creator. I develop in-person and online training and capacity development content that is engaging and relevant. I am a team player, comfortable working with other creators, graphics artists, instructional designers, subject matter experts, and content producers – to manage, design, develop, capture, produce, and evaluate highly technical digital multimedia learning products. The tools of my trade include, listening and questioning, collaborating, collecting a mountain of information, discarding a mountain of information, scripting, reading, storyboarding, editing, negotiating, more editing, reiterating, more editing, more storyboarding, and finally delivering an awesome product. As a skilled learning architect and multimedia developer, I am constantly pushing to develop more effective digital content that conveys the intended message with connection, efficiency, and story. I understand that clear content, efficient design, plain language, quality multi-media, and relevant story-based challenges are more likely lead to deeper learning and behavioral change.

For the training my team updated online, in-person, and hybrid laboratory safety training assets and curricula for Biosafety Level 2 laboratory environments. The communication products and initiatives were to keep the laboratory staff up to date with the latest safety and scientific information on laboratory practices, safety, and quality initiatives. Pyramid Consulting/UPS Global Business Services, Atlanta, GA 30328

I worked with UPS to evaluate and revise their Global Business Services training for Customer Care Representatives. This project was intended to shorten the time in training of domestic and international new hires, shorten the ramp-up time for new sites, reduce the cognitive clutter for learners, increase training efficiency, reduce content redundancy, streamline the training process, and provide self-directed e-learning courses and upgrade the current blended learning experiences. This project is intended to change the way UPS Global Business Services trains and delivers training worldwide.

Health Education Specialist/Instructional Designer II · 2016 – 2019 (FTE – 40 hrs/wk)

CDC/CSELS/DLS/WTDB, Atlanta, GA

Working as a contractor for CDC I developed award-nominated and award-winning online instructional, training and capacity development multimedia assets for the Division of Laboratory Systems, Workforce Training and Development Branch at CDC. I used the principle of ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate), adult learning, multimedia learning principles and techniques, to develop more than 30 in-person, online multimedia, and virtual reality training assets in 4 years (including Catmedia contract experience below). Twenty of these projects were online laboratory safety products, developed in Lectora course authoring software. All products met CDC training quality standards, and in some cases, accreditation standards for physicians, pharmacists, registered nurses, certified healthcare workers, certified public health educators, and laboratory professionals. These training programs met the strategic goals, objectives, and mission of CDC and our healthcare stakeholders and partners – to improve the safety and performance of the laboratory professionals throughout the United States and beyond. All the training courses I designed ranked in the high 90th percentile in learner generated evaluation and satisfaction data.

In 2019, I worked on the Division of Laboratory Systems virtual reality OneLab training project. The virtual reality prototype was designed to be state of the art training technology to help laboratory professionals better understand the biosafety cabinet environment and the challenges of working in this environment. The initial module contains advanced technology and gamified elements that deliver an innovative competency-based learning experience. This project continues to grow and currently provides realistic video based training to train for high consequence events in a low risk laboratory environment.

In 2019, I was selected to participate in an 8-week detail in the Emergency Operations Center for the 2018 Ebola Outbreak Emergency activation. There, I participated in the research, design, development, and evaluation plan development, of innovative instructor lead training courses and performance support systems to be deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo and other West African countries. The Infection Control and Prevention for Leadership course has been received by CDC leadership.

I listened to my subject matter experts carefully, analyzed previous course materials and evaluation data to determine the best method for presenting the complete educational program.
